Dedicated H&H Group fundraising raises almost £20,000  For Cancer Research UK

Two years of fundraising events and fantastic individual commitment from staff throughout the H&H Group of companies has enabled the Group to present a total of £19,740 to support the fight against cancer led by Cancer Research UK (CRUK).

CRUK has been one of the principal charities chosen for fundraising support over the past couple of years by H&H Group. Staff from all of the Group’s companies, including Harrison & Hetherington, H&H Insurance Brokers, HH Reeds, H&H Auction Rooms and H&H Land & Estates.

The Group’s record total was raised in a series of events organised by different companies, including a hugely successful H&H Land & Estates Charity Ball responsible for a wonderful £13,000 contribution, and the wholehearted support of staff and clients participating in fundraising initiatives such as the Great North Run, Gelt Gladiators, Walk All Over Cancer and Christmas Jumper Day.

CRUK has also been the charity supported throughout by the H&H 200 Club and by all seven of the Harrison & Hetherington livestock auction marts, and it has been the charity promoted at the major national livestock showcase events, Dairy Expo and Agri Expo, held at the flagship Borderway mart in Carlisle.

Commenting on behalf of the H&H Group, CEO Richard Rankin said: “All our staff have made an incredible commitment to fundraising for this wonderful charity, and it is entirely due to their efforts that we have the privilege of making the largest charitable contribution H&H Group has ever raised to Cancer Research UK.

“One in two of us will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in our lives, and the success of the treatment available to us will owe a great deal to the work of the scientists funded by CRUK.  In the 1970s, just 1 in 4 people survived their disease for 10 years or more; today 2 in 4 survive, and CRUK’s  ambition is to see 3 in 4 patients surviving the disease by 2034. We are delighted to be able to support their efforts to beat a disease that threatens all of us and our families.”

In a message of thanks, Emma Teare, Cancer Research UK Relationship Manager for North East England & Cumbria said: “Your £19,740 donation will have a massive impact on CRUK and the work that we do and is hugely appreciated by everyone here, all of our scientists and researchers, and indeed everyone that is currently going through or has been through a cancer journey.

“Our vision here at CRUK is to help everyone live longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer; and with the help and support of fabulous fundraisers like you, we have made some great progress. So thank you again for everything you have done and continue to do to support Cancer Research UK."
